Why is the 256th Infantry Brigade article in the Shreveport, Louisiana project? John Ball 19:02, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why was the picture of Shreveport deleted from the infobox? is this vandalism? 66.196.254.248 15:38, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why the Caddo Magnet school was redirected. There was no consensus to redirect. It seems to have been deleted at one remove. So much for the idea that we build an encyclopaedia by consensus. Dr Zen 13:18, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

If the pictures aren't licensed or given proper attribution, a bot removes them and comments the code out. You can revert the changes and add a copyright template if you have the right to use the images. Arundhati Bakshi 17:06, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am looking for the citation but I have read recently that Shreveport now has the 2nd largest population in LA as NO has dropped to 3rd post-Katrina. JonathanDailey 23:03, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Schools

[edit]

There is way too much detail in the schools section. DJ Clayworth 14:18, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Forgotten in all this is the fact that many major movie companies are now filming in Shreveport after moving north from New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. Not only are made for TV movies filming, but feature films such as Mr. Brooks starring Kevin Costner and Demi Moore. The former Shreveport Expo hall has been rented out to movie companies and is in the beginning stages of being renovated as a movie sound stage.

Yes, and "The Guardian" was here in Shreveport. It's great for my citys tourism.

I edited the line about Standard Oil "having it's headquaters in Shreveport." That is not a true statement. Standard Oil of LOUISIANA at one time headquatered in Louisiana, but to say that "Standard Oil" was based in Shreveport is stretching things.

Also, Shreveport was never the "oil capital of the US," although at one time was a major player next to Houston in the oil business.

Shreveport was also the capital of Louisiana in 1963. My teacher just started teaching that.

Economy

actually shreveport only has 2 casinos and i would like something to be done about the nickname

Also, the Eldorado Casino link directs to a Vegas property.

Shreveporters (People from Shreveport)

This is not ok: "Most importantly, James Cody Ford was born in Shreveport in 1978. He forever changed surgery rotaion of medical school by poineering the use of the daily DRE. He currently lives and smokes his girlfriend Leah." I haven't found any evidence to this person have existed as a person of interest...

I've added avant garde music group The Residents to the list, since they were born and lived in Shreveport until the 1960s. The group was formed in Shreveport as well. Laref 05:38, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Todd Walker is from Bossier City, and is listed as a Shreveporter. I propose that we remove him from the Shreveporters section. Jonneroo (talk) 20:58, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Bossier shreveport mudbugs.jpg

[edit]

Image:Bossier shreveport mudbugs.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:51, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Cooke

[edit]

I think the entry about Sam Cooke is very interesting. However, I think it is misplaced in this article. I don't think it should be listed as "Notable Shreveporters". Correct me if I'm wrong, but Notable Shreveporters to me means that a person was born or lived in Shreveport. This entry states neither, just a single incident that happen to take place in Shreveport. Can we find another home for this entry? And while we're at it, can we find some verifiable citations as well? Thanks! Jerry G. Sweeton Jr. 19:00, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will definitely add citations and find the entry a better home. As you've noted, he was not a Shreveporter and so the section isn't quite right. A notable person, yes, but not a Shreveporter. Any other suggestions are welcome. Benjamincuppy 00:01, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cooke was moved to the Twentieth Century history section of the page and is now fully cited. There is no existing historic marker to my knowledge, or I would have attempted to link to that as well. Thanks again for your feedback.Benjamincuppy 17:17, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Picture overload!

[edit]

This is one of the worst cases of picture-philia ive ever seen. This article is littered with pictures, it squeezes the text between the pics in some places. I would recommend evaluating the relevance and merits of each of those pictures to improve readability and the overall appearance of this article. Anon134 (talk) 00:33, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that there are way too many pictures in this article. Many pictures expand below their relevant sections, and interfere with the formatting of the sections below theirs. After looking over the page quite a bit, I am going to do some cleanup of the pictures and formatting. Due to the low activity of this talk page, I've decided to go ahead and make the changes, rather than waiting for responses here that may never come. I will comment out pictures I remove, so that changes can easily be undone, if necessary. Triradiates (talk) 18:18, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so I've finished most of the formatting fixes and picture moving/removing. I also did some editing of picture captions, and revised some grammar and sentence structure where needed. I think that the page looks cleaner and less cluttered. Let me know what you all think. =) Triradiates (talk) 19:49, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

@TheTexasNationalist99: Each use of a non-free file is required to have separate specific non-free use rationale per WP:NFCC#10c. This file has a non-free use rationale for its use in Shreveport Regional Airport, but it doesn't have one for this article. Trying to combine multiple non-free uses into a single non-free use rationale is almost never going to be not considered a separate specific rationale, particularly when the respective non-free uses are not the same. A non-free logo is typically going to be allowed when it's used for primary identification purposes at the top of or in the main infobox of a stand-alone article about the organization is represents; so, using the logo for identification purposes in the article about the airport make sense. The way you're trying to use it in this article, however, is not the same; basically, you're using it as a MOS:FLAGICON to simply link to the airport's article. So, there is not only the problem of the file not having a separate specific non-free use rationale, but there are also issue with WP:NFCC#1 (the link Shreveport Regional Airport without the image is a perfectly acceptable free equivalent to using a non-free image per WP:FREER), WP:NFCC#8 (there's no real reason for the reader to see this file used in this way and no loss in understanding from not seeing it per WP:NFC#CS) and MOS:LOGO. Now, if you still truly feel that the way you want to use this file in this article does satisfy all ten non-free content use criteria, then please provide a non-free use rationale specific to this article and this particular use explaining why and then re-add the file to the article. The file's non-free use in this article can then be discussed at WP:FFD to see if a consensus can be established in favor of it. I'm pretty certain that a valid non-free use rationale cannot be written for this type of use, but others may feel differently. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:32, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
